Abstract

Biographical / Historical
Russell Maret is an American book artist and letter designer. He was introduced to letterpress printing in 1989 when he moved to San Francisco to study poetry at the New College of California. He then studied with Peter Koch in Berkeley, worked at the Press in Tuscany Alley and then at the Firefly Press in Somerville, Massachusetts. In 1993, he set up his own press, Kuboaa, at the Center for Book Arts in New York. He set up his own studio in 1999 and created his first typeface in 2008. Maret was Printer in Residence at the Bodleian Libraries Bibliographical Press in 2017. He has published more than 60 books.
