Biographical / Historical
James Russell (1809-1899) established a photography business in Chichester in c.1853 and family members opened studios in other towns in the south of England and in London. From 1881 to 1884 James Russell & Sons was located at 29 Union Road, Tufnell Park, and from 1884 to 1888 at 199 Brompton Road in London.
Edward Henry Bickersteth (1825-1906) was bishop of Exeter from 1885 to 1900. For further information see the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
